Company Summary
Ridgewood Capital was founded by John H. Simpson and Paul W. Meyer who have been working together in the investment industry for over a decade. The firm’s foundation was laid in 1985 as a subsidiary of Canada Trust,. A decade later the company became Mulvihill Capital Management. In 2008, John and Paul left Mulvihill to begin Ridgewood Capital. They were subsequently joined by 5 senior investment managers from Mulvihill. Today we continue to manage the assets that we’ve built over the last 15 years for our long-term clients.
We¹re building a firm with a difference. Our traditional investment team is focused on long-term investment success that is grown from strong relationships. Our relationships with our investors begin at our first meeting when we sit down together to understand your investment goals. By limiting our number of client relationships, we can deliver outstanding service, ensuring that you get the amount of personal attention that you require.
We currently manage approximately $1 billion in assets for a wide variety of high net-worth clients, foundations, institutions and First Nations. Over the years we have learned from other firms¹ successes and failures and have built Ridgewood Capital into a firm focused on long term growth for our clients.

Unique Value Proposition
We are simply, money managers. But at the same time, we manage many other things: your expectations, your lifetime of hard work, and your future. We look at each portfolio as a sum of a client’s experiences, instead of simply a sum. This makes Ridgewood Capital a different kind of investment firm.
Beginning with our initial meeting, we present our investment style and philosophy in straightforward terms, answering each of your questions concisely and in plain language. The goal of this initial meeting is to determine your investment needs, and ensure that we’re the right firm for you.
By limiting the number of relationships, we’re able to provide the level of attention that each client deserves. When we work with you, you’ll receive personal visits two to three times per year with your investment partner, and in-depth quarterly updates that reiterate your investment objectives, and outline your portfolio value and performance against benchmarks.
But of course, should there be any market upheaval or a major change in investment direction, we’ll contact you to prevent any surprises. It’s because of this personal touch, that we’ve maintained relationships in both challenging and prosperous times.
